How much does tutoring cost?
Tutoring costs $25 per session.
What kind of payment methods are accepted?
Cash (in person) or Electronic Fund Transfers are the accepted methods of payment. Payment is due the day of your scheduled session. You will receive a receipt after the session and a brief list of what was covered.
How should I prepare for the first tutoring session?
After you have booked your first session, or if you have expressed interest, you will be sent an intake form. The form should be completed before you attend the first session. If you are looking for homework help, please make sure you have your math books from school handy. If you are expecting test preparation, you should share any outlines that have been provided by your teacher. You should have a calculator, a ruler and a pencil or two.
The first session is a full tutoring session. Jack will already have a rough plan, and we will be doing work for the entire hour.
What can I expect from tutoring?
You can expect to have concepts explained in a patient and direct manner. You can expect a tutor who is focused on helping you learn and ready to guide you to meet the math goals we have set together.
Depending on what we are covering and what the plan is, you may be expected to complete some work between sessions. This work will be to give extra practice and solidify skill building.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. Your goals and learning style will impact how many sessions you will require in order to be satisfied with your achievement. There are some general session outlines on our services page.
Where do tutoring sessions take place?
Jack lives in Cobourg but goes to University in Waterloo. During seasonal breaks, in-person sessions are possible in and around Cobourg. During the school year, most tutoring takes place online.
When at home, Jack gives tutoring sessions at the Cobourg Public Library. This is a central space that is quiet and without distractions. Jack is also able to provide tutoring in your home in Cobourg or Port Hope. If you would like to make other arrangements, please contact Jack and other arrangements might be possible.
How do I book a tutoring session?
Tutoring sessions can be booked through email or text 289-771-2555.
What is your cancellation policy?
Tutoring sessions must be booked at least 1 day in advance. Exceptions may occur, please email Jack to see if a last-minute appointment is available.
Appointments must be rescheduled or cancelled at least 12 hours in advance.
If you are late for your appointment, please text Jack. The session will be considered abandoned after 15 minutes beyond the scheduled start time.
